One of the most beautiful bays of Sardinia is located a few kilometers south of Olbia, just to the east of the rocky promontory of Capo Ceraso. The coast creates the deep bay of Porto Istana, wonderfully lapped by turquoise clear waters that alternate with patches of emerald depths, and with the magical profile of Tavolara that stands imposing on the horizon.
Porto Istana is a small bay bordered by rocks and rich Mediterranean vegetation; on the right side it is separated by rocky bands from three other beaches, known as the first, the second, the third and fourth beach starting from the north. The beach has a background of white sand that together with the reflections of light on water transforms this bay into a paradise of colors colorful.

Perfect location for families is a classic summer holiday destination, located opposite the islands of Tavolara and Molara in that area of the protected marine park of Capo Ceraso. The shallow waters, thanks to the shelter from the mistral given by the hills of Capo Ceraso, have temperatures of 24-25 ° C in July and August, ideal for bathing, and moreover here the water tends to deepen gradually making perfect access to the water even more to younger children. Some areas are equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas while much of the beach is free.

As well as magnificent, Porto Istana, is also easy to reach. You can use the ferries arriving in GolfoAranci or at Port of Olbia, the latter is closer. Alternatively you can fly to the airport Olbia Costa Smeralda.

4 km south there is tourist resort of Porto San Paolo, where you can find one of the most famous dive centers in Sardinia. Porto Istana is also well placed to reach the Emerald Coast to the north, with a journey time of about twenty minutes / half an hour to Porto Rotondo, while Porto Cervo is approximately 3/4 of an hour away by car. San Teodoro and Budoni are just a few minutes south.
